Former Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ika Federal Constituency to place unity and collective interest above personal ambitions in order to drive sustainable development.
Okowa made the call on Monday while addressing party members at the APC Ika Federal Constituency meeting held at the Vienna Arena, Agbor. He stressed that cooperation, mutual respect and a shared vision remain the strongest tools for advancing the political and socio-economic development of Ika land.
According to the former governor, the strength of the Ika people lies in their ability to work together harmoniously, noting that internal rivalry and divisive tendencies only weaken collective progress. He cautioned party members against unhealthy competition, urging them instead to embrace collaboration in both party affairs and wider political engagements.
Okowa described development as a collective responsibility, emphasising that meaningful progress can only be achieved when Ika sons and daughters set aside differences and commit themselves to the common good. He encouraged party stakeholders to build on existing foundations and leverage synergy to attract more opportunities and dividends of democracy to the constituency.
“Collaboration is always better than competition,” Okowa said, while urging APC members to remain focused on promoting the overall interests of Ika Federal Constituency and strengthening the party.
The meeting was attended by several prominent APC leaders and stakeholders, including the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka; the Member representing Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Victor Nwokolo; Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Chiedu Ebie; and the Secretary to the Delta State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, among others.
The gathering also provided an opportunity to reinforce party cohesion and reaffirm a collective commitment to unity, peace and progressive development in Ika land.
