Asaba, Delta State — Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Thursday received the Chief Executive Officer of the Office of the Tax Ombudsman, Dr. John Nwabueze, and his delegation on a courtesy visit at Government House, Asaba.
The governor described the visit as significant, noting that it highlights a shared commitment to strengthening fairness, transparency, and accountability within Nigeria’s tax system.
Oborevwori stated that his administration fully supports the mission of the Office of the Tax Ombudsman in promoting transparency and building public confidence in the nation’s tax framework. He assured the CEO and his team of the state government’s readiness to partner with the office in advancing a more equitable tax environment that benefits citizens and supports economic growth.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Nwabueze as the pioneer Chief Executive Officer of the Office of the Tax Ombudsman, describing the decision as commendable.
The governor congratulated Nwabueze on his appointment and on the establishment of the zonal office in Delta State, expressing confidence in his capacity to succeed in the role.
The visit further strengthens collaboration between the Delta State Government and the Office of the Tax Ombudsman in promoting a fair and efficient tax system.
