The Mimikay Political Movement, under the leadership of Akpososo Oghenekaro, has called on the Member representing Ughelli North Constituency 2 in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Spencer Obokpare Ohwofa, to strengthen grassroots engagement and deliver more direct, community-focused impact, particularly in Afiesere Community.
In a statement made available to the public, the Movement noted that while the recently presented stewardship report by the lawmaker outlined several interventions across the constituency, there remains a need for greater visibility of constituency-driven projects and empowerment initiatives in specific communities.
Afiesere Community, identified as a politically active and significant part of the constituency, was highlighted as an example where further attention is required. The Movement acknowledged the inclusion of Afiesere in certain interventions referenced in the report, including the water supply improvement project under the SURWASH programme and the ongoing classroom renovation at Afiesere Primary School.
However, it emphasized that such interventions appear largely connected to broader government programmes, and called for more direct and targeted initiatives that clearly reflect the lawmaker’s constituency engagement within the community.
According to the statement, the scale of empowerment and direct benefits currently visible in Afiesere does not fully align with the expectations of the people, considering their level of participation and support in the electoral process.
The Movement therefore urged Hon. Ohwofa to take deliberate steps in the coming weeks to:
. Visit Afiesere Community for direct engagement
. Meet with community leaders, stakeholders, and youth representatives
. Facilitate a transparent and inclusive empowerment programme tailored specifically for the people
It stressed that such actions would not only enhance trust but also demonstrate a stronger commitment to equitable representation and inclusive development.
The Mimikay Political Movement maintained that its position is driven by the need to ensure that all communities within Ughelli North Constituency 2 experience the full benefits of democratic representation, adding that constructive engagement remains key to sustainable progress.
