Delta Governor Signs ₦1.729 Trillion 2026 Budget, Other Key Bills into Law

 



Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of ₦1.729 trillion into law, marking another major step in the implementation of his administration’s development blueprint.


The budget, tagged “Budget of Accelerating the MORE Agenda,” allocates 70 per cent of the total expenditure to Capital projects, while 30 per cent is earmarked for Recurrent Expenditure, underscoring the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth across the state.


In addition to the Appropriation Bill, the Governor also assented to three other key legislations: the Delta State Social Investment Programme Law, the Delta State Colleges of Education Law, 2025, and the Delta State Anti-Terrorism and Anti-Cultism (Amendment) Law.


Speaking during the budget signing ceremony, Governor Oborevwori extended warm Christmas greetings and best wishes for a prosperous New Year to Deltans and residents of the state, while reaffirming his administration’s resolve to deliver inclusive growth and improved welfare for all.
