The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, has described Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as an audacious and workaholic leader whose aggressive infrastructure drive is transforming the state and silencing critics.
Izeze made the assertion on Monday at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Uromi Junction Flyover in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.
According to him, the scale, pace and geographical spread of projects being executed by the Oborevwori administration clearly reflect purposeful governance focused on the needs and welfare of the people.
He disclosed that the Uromi Junction Flyover is the fifth flyover project embarked upon by the administration since assuming office, following similar projects at PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout, Enerhen Junction and Otovwodo Junction.
The Commissioner explained that the flyover was designed to permanently resolve traffic congestion and frequent road accidents along the busy Uromi–Agbor corridor, which serves as a major link between Delta State and neighbouring states.
Izeze commended the Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Chiedu Ebie, for his support and commitment to the reconstruction of the Abraka–Abavo–Agbor Road, as well as the Agbor–Igbanke and Agbor–Uromi roads. He noted that the completion of these roads would complement the flyover and enhance its impact, adding that the project is expected to be delivered within 14 months.
He further highlighted other ongoing and completed projects in Ika Nation, particularly in Agbor, including the construction of Mariere Road and Sunny Ogwu Road.
The Commissioner revealed that Ika South Local Government Area is also benefiting from a N15.4 billion contract covering 13.3 kilometres of concrete drainage systems and five kilometres of road construction to address flooding and erosion challenges.
In addition, he disclosed plans by the state government to execute the N12 billion, 15-kilometre Okpe–Abavo–Ekuku-Agbor Road, describing it as a strategic project that would further boost connectivity and economic activities in the area.
Izeze assured that Governor Oborevwori remains committed to improving the quality of life of all Deltans, stressing that the administration’s infrastructure agenda is deliberately structured to promote safety, economic growth and balanced development across the state.
