The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to delivering high-quality road infrastructure in line with the MORE Agenda of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
Izeze gave the assurance on Monday in Asaba during a meeting with top management staff of the Ministry of Works, marking the official resumption of activities for the 2026 fiscal year. The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Juliet Aboloje, the Director of Highways, Engr. Solomon Aghagba, and other senior officials.
The commissioner said the meeting provided an opportunity to welcome staff into the new year and to re-emphasise strict adherence to the ministry’s approved work plan and agenda for 2026.
According to him, the ministry remains resolute in executing road projects that meet the highest standards of quality, while operating strictly within approved Budgetary Estimates and Bills of Engineering Measurement/Bills of Quantities (BEME/BOQ).
Izeze stressed that professionalism, accountability and dedication to duty would continue to guide the operations of the ministry, in line with the development vision of the Oborevwori administration.
He urged management and technical staff of the Department of Highways and Urban Roads to sustain teamwork and diligence to ensure timely and efficient delivery of projects that will enhance connectivity and stimulate socio-economic activities across the state.
The commissioner further reaffirmed that the Ministry of Works would not relent in its mandate, noting that the positive impact of ongoing and completed road projects across Delta State is evident.
