Christmas: Oborevwori Charges Nigerians to Be Peace Ambassadors

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged Nigerians, particularly Christians, to serve as ambassadors of peace, love, and forgiveness as they prepare to celebrate Christmas.

The Governor made the call on Tuesday during the Inter-Denominational Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols organised by the Delta State Government in Asaba. He was represented at the event by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D.

According to Governor Oborevwori, the message of Christmas should be reflected in the daily lives of citizens. He called on Deltans to carry the values of peace, unity and harmony to their homes, communities and workplaces, noting that the true meaning of Christmas lies in living out the teachings of Christ.

He said the festival symbolised what could be achieved when people work together in unity, stressing that Delta State’s diversity, when properly harnessed, remains its greatest strength.

Governor Oborevwori also highlighted the achievements of his administration in recent months, attributing the steady progress recorded across the state to divine grace, prayers and the support of the people. He noted that the government had continued to invest in critical infrastructure, improve access to healthcare and education, strengthen peace and security, and manage resources with prudence and accountability.

Guided by the MORE Agenda, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to meaningful development, inclusive opportunities and sustainable reforms, with a clear vision of a peaceful, united and prosperous Delta State where development reaches every community and no one is left behind.

He prayed for the joy, peace and love of Christmas to fill every home and bind the people together in unity.

In a sermon at the event, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Delta State Chapter, Rev. Lucky Osagbakhoe, described Christmas as a season of worship and love, urging Christians to reflect Christ’s love in their relationships with others.

Special prayers were offered for Nigeria, Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and those in positions of authority.

Dignitaries who took lessons during the festival included the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme; the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo; Hon. Pat Ajudua; HRM Prof. Epiphany Azinge (SAN); Rev. Oke Akokotu, among others.
