APC States Strengthen Synergy on Governance Reforms at PGF SGSs Meeting in Asaba

Secretaries to the Governments (SGSs) of All Progressives Congress (APC)-controlled states have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening inter-state collaboration, strengthening public sector reforms, and expanding digital governance initiatives to enhance service delivery across the country.

The resolutions were contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) Quarterly Strategy Meeting of Secretaries to the Governments of APC-governed states, held from Thursday, October 30 to Friday, October 31, 2025, at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, Delta State.

Hosted by the Delta State Government and coordinated by the PGF Secretariat, the two-day strategic session focused on the theme, “Strengthening Sub-National Governance Synergy for Effective Policy Coordination in APC-Governed States.” The forum brought together senior officials, technocrats, and policy experts from across the federation.

Participants applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC Governors for their leadership and commitment to deepening reforms and ensuring effective governance at both national and sub-national levels.

They described SGSs as key drivers of policy coordination, harmonization, and implementation across states, resolving to strengthen the institutional capacity of their offices to improve alignment between federal and state policies.

The meeting emphasized the need for accelerated administrative reforms and the adoption of digital governance systems to modernize public service structures, improve accountability, and enhance data-driven decision-making. Member states agreed to share successful reform models, standardize administrative processes, and leverage technology to boost efficiency and transparency.

A major highlight was the adoption of a unified Performance Management Framework to track and measure governance outcomes across APC states. The framework, to be developed in partnership with the PGF Secretariat, will align state performance indicators with national development priorities.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to peer learning, evidence-based reforms, joint capacity-building programs, and continuous policy innovation. They also pledged to champion initiatives that advance the Renewed Hope Agenda, promote inclusive governance, and deliver tangible development outcomes for citizens.

The Forum expressed gratitude to Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for hosting the strategic meeting and commended the PGF Secretariat under Director-General Mr. Folorunsho Aluko for its effective coordination and support.

The meeting concluded with appreciation for senior government officials who graced the opening ceremony, noting that their presence underscored a shared commitment to strengthening governance across APC-led states.

Nasarawa State was unanimously chosen as the next host for the PGF Quarterly Strategy Meeting scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.

The communiqué was endorsed by SGSs and senior representatives from APC states, including Dr. Kingsley Emu (Delta), Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade, Ph.D. (Kogi), Dr. Shuaibu Magaji Labaran, SAN (Nasarawa), Prof. Habibat Omolara Adubiaro (Ekiti), Mr. Olatokunbo Talabi (Ogun), Mrs. Serumun Aber, Esq.
