Orders Immediate Rehabilitation of Failed Sections of Ubeji/Egbokodo/Refinery Road
The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on investors, particularly Deltans at home and in the diaspora, to take advantage of the improving socio-economic climate in the state, declaring that now is the best time to invest in Delta.
He made the call on Friday in Ubeji, Warri South Local Government Area, during the inauguration of the Swiss International Rancho Valerie Hotel, a multi-million-naira hospitality and tourism project. The governor described the investment as a strong signal of renewed confidence in the state’s economy and the resurgence of Warri as a major commercial and tourism hub.
“Warri is rising again and Delta State is progressing steadily. The shadows of yesterday have given way to the bright possibilities of today and the greater promises of tomorrow,” Oborevwori said.
At the event, the governor ordered the immediate rehabilitation of the failed sections of the Ubeji/Egbokodo/Refinery Road, noting that improved infrastructure was critical to sustained economic growth and investor confidence.
According to him, the new hotel will not only provide premium accommodation but will also stimulate local enterprise, create jobs, promote community peace, and contribute significantly to the state’s socio-economic development.
“This hotel is not just another project; it is a clear statement that Delta State is open for business. It affirms that our state is safe, investor-friendly, and capable of hosting world-class hospitality and tourism ventures,” he added.
Governor Oborevwori commended the hotel’s proprietor, Mr. Mode Akoma, for choosing to invest in his home community, describing the project as a demonstration of vision, resilience, and commitment to the development of Delta State.
“I am proud that you chose to develop your community. This project brings jobs, peace, and progress,” the governor said.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure renewal, enhanced security, and investor-friendly policies under the MORE Agenda, assuring investors of government support and a conducive business environment.
Earlier, the General Manager of the hotel, Mr. Todowede Opeyemi, said the facility was designed to provide hospitality services that meet international standards and would help unlock Delta’s tourism potential.
“Every guest deserves more than just a stay; they deserve an unforgettable experience that reflects our culture, hospitality, and warmth as a people,” Opeyemi said.
The inauguration drew government officials, community leaders, and stakeholders from the hospitality and tourism industry, who hailed the project as a boost to Warri’s economic revival.
