Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated the University of Benin (UNIBEN) on the successful hosting of its 51st Convocation and 55th Founders’ Day ceremonies, describing the institution as a beacon of excellence in Nigeria’s educational landscape.

In a goodwill message delivered on his behalf by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, the governor expressed admiration for the university’s outstanding contributions to academic development and nation-building over the past five decades.

Governor Oborevwori praised the management and staff of UNIBEN for sustaining high academic standards and for nurturing generations of graduates who have distinguished themselves in diverse fields across the world.

“I commend the university for its unwavering commitment to excellence, discipline and innovation, which have continued to shape its reputation as one of Nigeria’s foremost institutions of higher learning,” the governor stated.

He urged the graduating students to remain steadfast in the values of integrity, diligence and service, noting that their success in the outside world would further strengthen the university’s legacy.

The event, held at the university’s main campus, attracted dignitaries from academia, government and various professional bodies, including the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Edoba Bright Omoregie, members of the governing council, deans of faculties and senior academics.

The ceremony climaxed with the formal conferment of degrees on graduating students, marking a significant milestone for the institution and celebrating years of scholarly achievement and contribution to national development.
