Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged the people of Idumuje-Ugboko in Aniocha North Local Government Area to embrace unity and reconciliation as the kingdom celebrated the ninth anniversary of the reign of His Royal Majesty, Obi Chukwunomso Nwoko, and the first anniversary of the presentation of his Staff of Office.
The ceremony, held at the monarch’s palace in Idumuje-Ugboko, attracted dignitaries from across the state and featured the conferment of the chieftaincy title Okosisi Ne Ye Ndu of Idumuje-Ugboko on the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D.
Represented at the event by the Deputy Governor, Governor Oborevwori described the twin milestones as significant achievements in the life of the monarch and a reflection of his dedication to peace and stability in the kingdom.
He commended the traditional ruler for his resilience and commitment to fostering harmony within his domain, noting that traditional institutions remain critical partners in driving grassroots development.
The governor stated that the MORE Agenda of his administration recognizes the importance of collaboration with traditional rulers to ensure peace, security, inclusive opportunities and sustainable rural development.
Calling on the people of Idumuje-Ugboko to rally behind their monarch, Oborevwori emphasized that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of unity. He urged stakeholders, youths, elders and members of the diaspora to set aside differences and work collectively for the progress of the kingdom.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to working closely with the Aniocha North Local Government Council to deliver the dividends of democracy to the grassroots.
In his remarks, the President General of the Idumuje-Ugboko Development Union, Dr. Christian Chiazor, said the community was celebrating the peace, stability and security that have characterized the reign of Obi Nwoko over the past nine years.
