The Delta State Government has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the development of riverine communities, as the Commissioner in charge of the Directorate for Riverine Infrastructure Development, Chief Ebikeme Clark, declared that Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori remains firmly dedicated to transforming the creeks under his administration’s MORE Agenda.
Chief Clark made this known during an inspection tour of ongoing infrastructure projects in Warri North and Warri South-West Local Government Areas.
The projects inspected include the 3.1-kilometre Kolokolo–Tisun Road in Warri North LGA and the Oporoza Model Secondary School in Warri South-West LGA.
Accompanied by engineers from the directorate, representatives of Ocean Explorers Nigeria Limited — the firm handling the road construction — and leaders of the benefiting communities, the commissioner assessed the progress and quality of work at the sites.
Addressing stakeholders during the visit, Clark emphasized that Governor Oborevwori is resolute in ensuring that residents of riverine communities enjoy the same standard of infrastructure available in urban centres, despite the environmental challenges posed by the creek terrain.
Describing the area as “the deep creek of Delta State,” Clark noted that while some believed development was impossible due to the difficult landscape, the governor has demonstrated that terrain is not a barrier to progress.
He stated that the Kolokolo–Tisun road project was awarded to a competent contractor to guarantee durability and adherence to high construction standards, stressing that the state government would not tolerate substandard execution of any project.
Clark commended the contractor for the significant progress recorded so far and acknowledged the environmental challenges affecting the Oporoza Model Secondary School project, while noting that the contractor has shown commendable competence and capacity.
He also praised the host communities for their peaceful cooperation, describing it as crucial to the timely completion of development projects.
In his remarks, the General Manager of Ocean Explorers Nigeria Limited, Amb. Muobor Krubu, revealed that the 3.1-kilometre road project was awarded in September 2025 and is scheduled for completion within twelve months.
He assured stakeholders of the company’s commitment to delivering the project within the agreed timeline and appreciated the communities for their support.
Community leaders, including the Chairman of Kolokolo Community, Mr. Gabriel Tetsola; the Secretary of Tisun Community, Mr. Frederick Kuke; the Chairman of Oporoza Community, Mr. Emmanuel Ebi; and Chief Demebi Izirimi, expressed gratitude to the Delta State Government.
They described the projects as the most significant development initiatives ever undertaken in their communities and pledged continued support for Governor Oborevwori’s administration.
The Oporoza Model Secondary School, upon completion, will feature male and female hostels, staff quarters, a well-equipped library, science laboratories, administrative offices, and other modern facilities aimed at enhancing teaching and learning.
The inspection tour underscores the Oborevwori administration’s determination to bridge infrastructural gaps and promote inclusive development across all parts of Delta State.
