…As Sobotie Urges Members to Close Ranks for Victory
The Ughelli South Political Colonels, a prominent pressure group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, have reaffirmed their loyalty to the party and vowed to deliver overwhelming victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
The group made the pledge on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the Delta State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, at the party’s state secretariat in Asaba.
Speaking during the visit, Chairman of the group, Olorogun John Evwenode, said the Ughelli South Political Colonels were in Asaba to demonstrate solidarity with the state leadership and restate their commitment to the unity and progress of the party.
“We are here to assure you of our unwavering loyalty and to reaffirm our commitment to delivering Ughelli South 100 percent for the APC come 2027,” Evwenode declared. “Our goal is to mobilize at the grassroots and strengthen the party’s structures for total victory.”
Responding, Elder Sobotie commended the group for their steadfastness and described their visit as a reflection of renewed strength and cohesion within the party. He urged members across the state to unite, avoid internal divisions, and embrace new members as the countdown to 2027 begins.
“No man prevails by the number of enemies he has; men prevail by the number of friends they are able to make,” Sobotie said. “The APC’s success in 2027, both at the state and federal levels, will depend on how united and inclusive we are.”
He dismissed any notion of segregation between old and new members, stressing that all party faithful enjoy equal rights and privileges. “In the APC of today, there are no old or new members. Everyone is equal, and all rights remain valid and accessible,” he affirmed.
The APC Chairman described the party as divinely favoured, noting that the opposition in Delta State had become weak and disorganized. “Any attempt to challenge the APC in 2027 will be like running into a brick wall,” he added.
“Government is like an elephant, too big for one man to slaughter and feed upon,” Sobotie remarked. “We have two governments at our disposal — one in Abuja under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and another here in Asaba under our able governor. That gives us every reason to stay united and work harder.”
He lauded the Ughelli South Political Colonels for their grassroots mobilization efforts, expressing confidence that their dedication would further strengthen the APC ahead of future elections.
“I am impressed with your zeal and organization,” Sobotie said. “Keep up the good work, and may you rise from being Colonels to Generals in your political journey.”
The meeting ended on a note of optimism, with both the state leadership and the Ughelli South Political Colonels pledging continued collaboration, membership expansion, and consolidation of the APC’s influence across Delta State.
Observers described the visit as one of the most strategic political alignments within the Delta APC in recent months, signaling the emergence of the Ughelli South Political Colonels as a key mobilization force ahead of the 2027 elections.
