Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Nyerhovwo Tonukari, has applauded the Delta State House of Assembly for the passage of the Dual-Mode Programme for Colleges of Education across the state.
In a statement issued on Friday in Asaba, Tonukari praised the Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Hon. Charles Emetulu, for his outstanding leadership and commitment in driving the bill, describing the development as a transformative milestone in the state’s education sector.
The dual-mode programme enables students in Delta’s Colleges of Education to earn both the National Certificate in Education (NCE) and university degree simultaneously — without reliance on external institutional affiliations.
Calling the initiative a “game-changer,” Tonukari noted that the policy will expand access to higher education, improve efficiency, and boost academic quality statewide.
“This reform eliminates unnecessary academic hurdles and empowers our students to pursue their goals with greater ease and confidence,” he stated.
The Commissioner also extended appreciation to Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor and members of the Assembly for their united support, describing them as champions of educational advancement whose vision continues to shape the future of Delta State.
“This is a major victory for students and for the future of higher education in Delta,” Tonukari added. “I commend Hon. Charles Emetulu and all honourable members for their unwavering dedication to the growth and development of our state.”
