The Delta State Government has announced plans to disburse grants to 320 rural women engaged in creative industries, under its M.O.R.E. CAP-UP empowerment initiative.
The grant disbursement ceremony, organized by the Delta State Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Development Agency (DEMSMEDA) in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady, Deaconess (Mrs.) Tobore Oborevwori, is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba. Accreditation of beneficiaries will begin at 9:00 a.m., while the official programme will commence at 11:00 a.m.
The M.O.R.E. CAP-UP programme, a flagship project of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, is designed to support women across the three senatorial districts of the state with financial assistance to boost their creative enterprises. Beneficiaries were selected from rural communities to ensure inclusiveness and grassroots impact.
Her Excellency, Deaconess (Mrs.) Tobore Oborevwori, wife of the governor, will personally supervise the disbursement exercise, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to gender equity and rural development.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Executive Secretary/CEO of DEMSMEDA, Dr. Godwin Adolor, described the initiative as a strategic step towards promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and inclusive economic growth in the state.
“This programme is about celebrating and supporting rural women who are actively shaping the creative economy in their communities,” he said.
The event is open to the public.
