…Urges Ofobruku to work with party stakeholders, avoid divisive claims
The Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Communications and Orientation and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has dismissed claims that defectors are attempting to hijack the APC in Delta State.
Reacting to comments credited to former lawmaker, Hon. Efe Ofobruku, Oghenesivbe described the allegation as baseless, misleading, and capable of causing unnecessary tension within the party.
In a statement on Wednesday, he faulted Ofobruku's remarks on national television, noting that such divisive rhetoric was unbecoming of a former legislator.
He affirmed that Elder Omene Sobotie remains the State APC Chairman, while all existing party officers retain their positions following Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC earlier this year.
According to him, Governor Oborevwori, now leader of the APC in Delta State, has been working harmoniously with stakeholders across the state and is committed to building a stronger, more united party capable of delivering overwhelming victory for President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in the next general elections.
“There are no signs of hijack and no need for it,” Oghenesivbe stated, noting that over 95 percent of party members in Delta are satisfied with the current leadership structure.
He urged Ofobruku to align with the expanded APC family, cooperate with the State Chairman, and avoid divisive utterances capable of destabilizing the party.
“Delta APC is vibrant, organized, and well-coordinated, with no signs of implosion now or after the 2027 elections,” he said.
Emphasizing that the party has become one united front under Governor Oborevwori, Oghenesivbe described Ofobruku's claims as “grossly unfounded and laughable.”
He encouraged members to support ongoing online membership registration and strengthen the party ahead of future polls.
“Nobody will hijack Delta APC,” he assured. “We are focused, united, and ready for landslide victory.”
He further praised Elder Sobotie as a gentleman of impeccable character who remains fully in charge as State Chairman and aligned with the governor.
Oghenesivbe reaffirmed the party's commitment to maintaining internal cohesion and growing a formidable structure to win elections at all levels in 2027.
