Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated veteran journalist and Arise News anchor, Dr. Reuben Abati, on his 60th birthday.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori described Abati — a former Presidential Spokesman and former Chairman of The Guardian Newspaper Editorial Board — as a distinguished journalist whose career has been defined by excellence, courage, and impactful service to the nation.

He lauded Dr. Abati for his immense contributions to the growth and credibility of Nigeria’s media industry, noting that his decades of work as a columnist, editor, scholar, and broadcaster have inspired generations of journalists and enriched public discourse.

The Governor commended Abati’s role on Arise News’ The Morning Show, describing his commentaries as “insightful, engaging, and deeply educative.”

“Dr. Reuben Abati stands tall among Nigeria’s most accomplished journalists. His intellectual depth, professionalism, and commitment to truth and justice have earned him respect across the media landscape. At 60, we celebrate a man who has consistently used his voice and platform to inform, educate, and shape public opinion for the good of society,” Oborevwori said.

He prayed for Dr. Abati’s continued good health, wisdom, and fulfillment, adding: “On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I warmly congratulate Dr. Reuben Abati on this milestone birthday. May his life continue to be a source of inspiration to the media profession and Nigerians at large.”
