The Delta State Government has postponed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the 12-kilometre Ugbolu–Okpanam Road in Oshimili North Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads and Public Information), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, said the postponement was necessitated by the torrential rainfall experienced in the area, which made it impractical to proceed with the event as earlier scheduled.
Aniagwu conveyed the regrets of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who was expected to preside over the ceremony, to invited guests and stakeholders affected by the development.
He assured that a new date for the groundbreaking would be announced soon, adding that the project remains a top priority under the Oborevwori administration.
“The State Government regrets any inconvenience caused by this postponement and wishes to assure residents that the Ugbolu–Okpanam Road project remains a critical component of the Governor’s MORE Agenda aimed at delivering meaningful development across Delta State,” Aniagwu stated.
