Delta Govt Hails Tantita Security for Boosting Oil Output, Strengthening Nigeria’s Economy

The Delta State Government has commended Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for its pivotal role in safeguarding oil facilities and enhancing the nation’s economic stability.

The State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, gave the commendation on Sunday while speaking on The Morning Show on Arise News.

Aniagwu described Tantita’s operations as a “model of corporate citizenship,” noting that its efforts have significantly curbed oil theft and improved national crude production from about 1.1 million to 1.7 million barrels per day.

He said the improved output has yielded positive fiscal outcomes for both the federal and state governments.

“Delta, being the number one oil-producing state in Nigeria, is benefitting through derivation — even though we believe that 13 percent is still less than what we deserve,” Aniagwu stated. “Beyond Delta, the entire federation is gaining from Tantita’s work because increased production means higher revenue for the country.”

The Commissioner dismissed attempts to liken Tantita’s security activities in the Niger Delta to banditry elsewhere, stressing that the company’s operations were lawful, structured, and beneficial to the economy.

Aniagwu reaffirmed that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration remains firmly committed to the dual mandate of security and welfare as stipulated in Section 14(2)(b) of the Nigerian Constitution.

He disclosed that the state government has, in the last two years, invested over ₦1.3 trillion in capital projects, including roads, bridges, and flyovers, while maintaining prompt payment of salaries and introducing various social intervention programmes to uplift widows and vulnerable groups.

“Governor Oborevwori believes government funds must translate into better living conditions for the people,” he said. “Our prudent fiscal management has also ensured stability in our education sector — that’s why Delta schools rarely participate in national strikes.”

Aniagwu reiterated that the Oborevwori administration’s MORE Agenda — Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security — remains the strategic framework guiding governance and policy implementation across the 25 local government areas of the state.

“As we move toward 2027, the Oborevwori government will continue to strengthen the link between politics and governance to ensure Delta functions effectively and the people continually feel the impact of government in their daily lives,” he added.
