DELCOM 2025: Gov Oborevwori to Declare 6th Strategic Communication Workshop Open October 6

 




Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, will on Monday, October 6, 2025, declare open the 6th edition of the Delta State Strategic Communication Workshop (DELCOM 2025) in Asaba, the state capital.


The event, holding at Hotel Benizia, will bring together top government officials, communication experts, and media practitioners to deliberate on the theme: “Strategic Communication in the Digital Age: Leveraging on Artificial Intelligence for Effective Leadership.”


A statement by the State Coordinator of DELCOM and Director-General, Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Barr. (Dr.) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, disclosed that Governor Oborevwori will deliver the keynote address, setting the tone for the workshop.


Dr. Oghenesivbe explained that DELCOM 2025, in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM), is designed to strengthen the capacity of media aides, influencers, bloggers, and communication professionals to effectively project the programmes and policies of the Oborevwori administration using digital and AI-driven tools.


He further revealed that the President of CIISM, Ambassador Dr. (Mrs.) Temile Uduogho Oritseweyinmi, will induct some participants as members and fellows of the Institute on Day 3 of the workshop. Certificates of participation, endorsed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, will also be presented to all participants.


The Chief Trainer for this year’s edition is Prof. Joyce Ogwezi, Head of Mass Communication Department, Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, supported by Prof. Presley Obukoadata of Delta State University, Abraka, and ICT/AI expert, Dr. Monday Ashibogwu, FNIPR.


Expected dignitaries include Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; Delta APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie; SSG, Dr. Kingsley Emu; Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Prince Johnson Erijo; Chief Adviser to the Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ighoyota Amori; construction magnate, Chief John Oguma; and Director of Protocols, Chief Sunday Onoriode.

According to Oghenesivbe, DELCOM 2025 will highlight the role of strategic communication in governance and demonstrate how artificial intelligence can enhance effective media engagement in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
