Tinubu Inaugurates APC Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution, Mobilisation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated a high-powered Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), aimed at strengthening internal cohesion within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration ceremony, which held on Wednesday in Lagos, underscored the President’s commitment to unity, inclusiveness and stability within the APC. The committee comprises serving APC governors, members of the Federal Executive Council and other key party stakeholders.

Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, was appointed Chairman of the committee, while former APC National Legal Adviser, Muiz Banire, will serve as Member/Secretary.

Among the prominent members is Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, whose inclusion highlights his growing national relevance and the confidence reposed in his leadership within the party. Other members include Senator Adamu Aliero; Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; as well as Governors Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), and Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti).

Also appointed to the committee are Governors Uba Sani (Kaduna) and Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers); Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello; and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari.

Speaking at the event, Governor Buni expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the APC leadership for the confidence placed in the committee members. He assured that the assignment would be executed with diligence, responsibility and a strong commitment to party unity.

According to him, the committee will embark on extensive consultations and strategic engagements to develop a comprehensive, inclusive and result-driven framework that addresses grievances and strengthens cohesion within the party.

“The committee will engage in strategic consultations to develop an all-encompassing, productive and result-oriented strategy that will stand the test of time. We shall implement a system that gives everyone, especially aggrieved members, a sense of belonging and renewed hope,” Buni said.

He added that proactive measures would be adopted to identify and address potential threats to party unity, urging members to place the collective interest of the APC above personal considerations.

President Tinubu had earlier stressed the need for unity within the party during the APC’s 15th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Friday, December 19, at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja. He reminded party leaders that the APC was founded on the principles of progressive politics, broad participation and respect for diverse opinions.

“We must continue to be resolute that this democracy we hold in our hands must not fail. We say we are bigger, larger and taller, but it must now be in our hearts to be accommodating. That is the only way we can be resilient; we must be tolerant,” the President said.

The inauguration of the committee signals a renewed drive by the APC leadership to consolidate internal harmony and strengthen the party’s organisational framework as preparations for future electoral contests gather momentum.
