The Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, Senator Thomas Joel-Onowakpo, has described the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as “an unstoppable moving train” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the APC Stakeholders’ Meeting held on Sunday at the Government House, Asaba, Joel-Onowakpo delivered a rousing message of unity and renewed commitment to party leaders and members across the state.
The lawmaker, who chairs the Senate Committee on Local Content, reminded party stakeholders of the weight of leadership and responsibility entrusted to them.
“The privilege to be in this room means you are not only recognized in your local government but also at the state level, and that comes with a burden. To whom much is given, much is expected,” he stated.
He commended the unity within Delta South APC, highlighting the presence of all House of Representatives members from the district as a clear sign of collective purpose and determination.
“That tells you something,” the senator said, reaffirming the zone’s total commitment to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the consolidation of APC’s strength in Delta State.
Joel-Onowakpo also cautioned members against acts of disloyalty, urging steadfastness and genuine commitment to the party’s mission.
“If there is anybody who is not in this place for a just cause, please be careful,” he warned, acknowledging the challenges of operating as an opposition party in the state.
Aligning with the positions of his colleagues, Senators Ede Dafinone and Ned Nwoko, on the hurdles of contesting elections outside the ruling fold, the Delta South senator expressed optimism that the tide was turning in favour of the APC.
“Delta State, by this gathering, has become a moving train. It is unstoppable,” he declared. “Go home and let everybody know that it will not be business as usual. We are committed, in body, soul, and spirit, to ensure that our party wins all its elections.”
The stakeholders’ meeting was part of ongoing efforts by the APC to strengthen its structures, deepen grassroots engagement, and consolidate support across Delta State ahead of the 2027 polls.
