The Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Wilson Ojakovo, Oharisi III, has commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for initiating the construction of the Otovwodo Flyover, describing the project as a historic intervention that will redefine Ughelli and position it as a modern urban centre.
The monarch gave the commendation on Monday at his palace in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area, shortly after the groundbreaking ceremony of the Otovwodo Flyover, while formally receiving Governor Oborevwori and members of his entourage.
According to the traditional ruler, the flyover project marks a major milestone in the development of Ughelli Kingdom, stressing that meaningful infrastructure development directly improves the quality of life of the people.
Speaking through the Otota (Spokesman) of the Ughelli Kingdom, Chief Peter Akpofure, HRM Oharisi III praised the Governor’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the growth of Ughelli. He specifically highlighted the completion of strategic road projects around the Otovwodo axis, noting that they have significantly reduced the perennial traffic congestion previously experienced in the area.
The monarch also acknowledged the construction of other roads within the kingdom, as well as the appointment of sons and daughters of Ughelli Kingdom into key positions in government, describing these actions as inclusive and impactful steps that have uplifted communities across the area.
“This flyover will permanently change the face of Ughelli and will be remembered and appreciated by generations yet unborn,” the monarch said. He offered prayers for divine guidance, adequate resources and human support for Governor Oborevwori to succeed in office, while pledging the continued cooperation and loyalty of the Ughelli people to the Oborevwori administration.
In his response, Governor Oborevwori expressed gratitude to the monarch and the people of Ughelli Kingdom for the warm reception and sustained support, describing the traditional institution as a critical stakeholder in grassroots development and governance.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the delivery of impactful infrastructure across Delta State, explaining that the Otovwodo Flyover was designed to ease traffic flow, enhance road safety and stimulate economic activities in Ughelli, in line with the MORE Agenda of his administration.
In a related development, Governor Oborevwori also paid a courtesy visit to the Ughelli residence of renowned industrialist and political leader, Olorogun Morrison Olori, founder of the Ukodo Nation Political Support Group.
During the visit, Olorogun Olori and members of the group lauded the Governor for his development initiatives across the state and assured him of their unwavering support, pledging continued loyalty ahead of the 2027 general elections.
