Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, extending heartfelt condolences to Governor Douye Diri, the bereaved family, the Government and people of Bayelsa State.
In a condolence message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori described the death of Senator Ewhrudjakpo as tragic and deeply saddening, noting that the late Deputy Governor was a man of rare wisdom, intellect and humility.
Governor Oborevwori said Senator Ewhrudjakpo, fondly referred to as “a man of many proverbs,” made remarkable contributions to governance and public service, leaving behind enduring legacies not only in Bayelsa State but across the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.
“I join Governor Douye Diri, his family, the Government and people of Bayelsa State, friends and associates in mourning the passing of Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo,” Oborevwori stated.
“He was a dependable partner in leadership, a team player and a fountain of wisdom. His death is a painful reminder of the fragility of life.”
The Delta State Governor prayed for divine comfort and strength for Governor Diri, the Ewhrudjakpo family and all those affected by the loss, urging them to find solace in the impactful life of service lived by the late Deputy Governor.
“On behalf of my family, the Government and people of Delta State, I pray that Almighty God grants Governor Douye Diri, his family and the people of Bayelsa State the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.
Until his passing, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo served as Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State and was widely respected for his eloquence, deep understanding of governance and distinctive use of proverbs in public discourse.
