The Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, says the achievements of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori have rendered opposition parties ineffective in the state.
Speaking on the Voice of Delta Radio public affairs programme Orientation Panorama on Wednesday, Oghenesivbe said Deltans are satisfied with the performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which he said has brought economic growth, strengthened security, and delivered massive infrastructure across the state.
He attributed the weakness of opposition parties to what he described as the governor’s pragmatic and visionary leadership driven by openness, inclusiveness, transparency, and prudent management of resources. According to him, Governor Oborevwori’s mega infrastructure projects and economic reforms have surpassed campaign promises within less than three years in office.
Oghenesivbe maintained that opposition parties have lost grounds because “there is nothing to criticize,” noting that a vibrant opposition only thrives when a government is underperforming.
He urged opposition elements to join the APC “for relevance,” while commending Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for defecting to the APC—a decision he described as a positive development for South-South politics.
The Bureau Chief hailed the recent Delta Central Senatorial District Stakeholders Meeting, where leaders reaffirmed their support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, expressing confidence in the APC’s prospects ahead of the 2027 elections. He also applauded party leaders, including Minister Festus Keyamo, SAN, and several other stakeholders for their commitment to strengthening the party.
“Delta is now a one-party state— the APC. Opposition parties cannot be relevant under a performing governor and a productive ruling party. Deltans have resolved to reject those who do not mean well for the state,” Oghenesivbe stated.
He concluded that opposition parties will remain “politically impotent” in Delta State until the end of the Oborevwori administration in 2031.
